What is migration?
People move to other places all the time for different reasons.
The first time people began to migrate was almost 1 million
years ago. People from Africa moved to Europe and Australia.
We don’t know why these people began to immigrate.
We think that is was because their soil wasn’t good or that they
were just curious. All over the world are people. This is because
in the past all the people moved from Africa to other parts of the
world. Migration made different human species and different languages.
A lot of people have a little bit of another human specie.
You can split migration up into two groups: forced and voluntary.
Emigrants are people who leave a country.
Immigrants are the people that arrive in a country.
• Reasons why people migrate.
You can split migration into two groups. Voluntary migration and forced migration. Here are the reasons.
Voluntary migration
- Social amenities - such as hospitals schools
- For friends and relatives.
- Better climate
- Employment – to find a job, to earn more money, to avoid paying tax
- Territorial expansion
- Trade and economic expansion
Forced migration
- Religious or political persecution
- Wars
- Racial discrimination
- Lack of food
- Natural disasters like hurricanes, floods or earthquakes
- Overpopulation, when there are too many people
• Refugees
Refugees are people who are forced to leave their home country for all kind of reasons. In the world there are a lot of refugees. The UN and the red cross try to help these people but sometimes that is very difficult. When people become a refugee they almost all the time have nothing because they had to leave there home very fast and then they can’t take a lot of stuff with them. Sometimes they have to walk a lot of miles because they don’t have a car or other transport. When they aren’t in danger anymore they can go to a
Refugee camp. That is a camp were all the

and a tent to stay in. The people who are sick
also get medicines.
